I have just received a tweet from a fellow autistic. Tonight in Australia in primetime we are having our tabloid current affairs show presenting a story of a media personality and his families “struggle with Autism”
I respect this man, however I am fearing yet another negative portrayal of Autism and Autistic people as locked away, unable to function etc.
I found this promo for the show on youtube….
My fears are not allayed when seeing on their website a poll asking if any in your family “suffers with autism”
It’s so disheartening as to always be portrayed as suffering and hopeless.
I do hope my fears are misplaced.
